Last fall was a record year with over 480 youth players and over 70 coaches/co-coaches. Thanks to all the volunteers, the season was very successful with only a few complaints. Special Thanks to Peter Cobb who moved on to coaching the Montpelier boys, for his years of coaching, coordinating, and scheduling for the 7/8th grade girls team.

The Barre City Recreation Department has been working on the Farwell Field to help improve the surface with aerating and fertilizing. They plan on over seeding after the fall season.

The Barre City field which the National Guard had been working on is roughed in but needs substantial work to complete. Somehow we need to work with the schools to finish the work that's begun as the soccer and lacrosse programs continue to grow with energetic youths.

Sign-ups for this fall season have begun with a deadline of 8/17 so that teams can be organized with coaches, corresponding t-shirts and equipment. Late sign-ups are as always difficult to manage as we try to even abilities out on teams, keep teams to 11 or 12 players, and provide coaching to meet the needs. Please remember that this is a volunteer program so everyone's time is valuable.

We are also arranging a very progressive coaching clinic for around August 31st in collaboration with the Vermont Principles Association. Positive Coaching Alliance will be providing a Double-Goal Coaching Workshop to promote more rewarding experience for both players and coaches. The Positive Coaching Alliance is being promoted by professional and college coaches and athletes. More information is coming. If interested please see their website which provides some information at www.positivecoach.org.
